Random packet loss on WAN

Thu Mar 16, 2023 2:37 pm

hi, I have faced some very strange situation, and can't figure out where the problem is. I did many similar networks without any problems, but this time some magic is going on.

Structure:
a) LTE DLINK DWR-961 modem (brand new) with public IP - DMZ to MT, local Dlink IP is 192.168.0.1
b) MT rb951g-2hnd
- eth1 set to 192.168.0.100, gw 192.168.0.1
- bridge (eth2-4 + wlan) set to 192.168.88.1 with dhcp 192.168.88.x
- 2 PCs connected to ETH2 and ETH3

The problem is couple times a day packets between MT and Dlink just got lost. LAN works without any problem, both computers see each other, no packet loss whatsoever.
Of course this impacts internet connection.

When the problem occures I can't even ping from winbox to 192.168.0.1 (dlink). So it seems there is an issue between MT and Dlink.
If I connect another pc to Dlink directly, there is no packet loss ever.

I did change cables, tried another MT - no luck.
Sometimes it works perfectly for hours, sometimes there is packet loss every couple minutes (mostly this situation)

And now the magic:
- If there is only one PC turned on , mostly packets get lost, but if I only start another PC there is no loss, or tiny one (3-5%)
How turning second PC on can affect connection between MT and DLINK?

Any suggestions?
