Wifi as WAN

Fri Mar 31, 2023 2:29 pm

Hallo,

i would like to ask for some assistance.

I have RB4011 series router and would like to configure it in the way so the 2Ghz wlan (wlan2 in my case) is used as wan and is connected to a ap.
I would like to configure it in the way so the router acts more as switch and does not even assigne IP adress as DHCP server but the address is assignet from AP/router.

I have tried in quick setting as CPE, but have 2 problems.
1. only 5Ghz is alowed (the AP i want to cennect is 2GHz).;
2. IP is on automatic and "bridge all LAN" is turned, then in interface i assigne wlan2 as WAN and in wirelles i manualy choose in 2Ghz on what ap to connect. After successful connection i see that only Tx is doing anything but not Rx and internet does not work.. (my firewall is completely empty). in quick setting i can see that the IP was assigned from ap's router and also my PC gets some ip...

if i try to ping 8.8.8.8 in console of my router it does not work.

Could anyone please help me with that, what i need to change.

Have a look at this topic and this blog. It will show you the right direction:

And...please never ever touch quickset (at all).

Suggestion: you can touch QuickSet ONCE.
Then never again :lol:
