Traffic Generator for Wireguard

Fri Mar 31, 2023 6:13 pm

Hello everyone,
There is a topology consisting of two Mikrotik routers connected by a wireguard tunnel.
I am trying to use a traffic generator to test the connection for losses, delays, and other issues.
However, no matter what I do, I cannot receive any response packets.

I see packets on wg interface and exit interface on first router, so traffic is encapsulated and goes to the other router
On the second router I see traffic on physical interface but nothing on wg interface, so looks like it's just dropped after or before decapsulation

I have tried different combinations of addresses in the packet template, disabled the firewall, and added "0.0.0.0/0" to the wireguard peer allowed address settings, but the result is still zero.

Please help me understand what I am doing wrong, or maybe wireguard is not supposed to work with this type of testing.
Thank you!

Obviously your wireguard tunnel isn't working.

Agree.
If wg is working, all the rest will work as well.
See if you can reach the target device using ping from the other end. If that already fails, you first need to solve that.

Sorry, it looks there is more details required =)
I have no problem with wg tunnel, all regular traffic between routers or forward through them is ok
The only problem with traffic generator traffic, which just lost on the other end of tunnel
