When a device connected to hotspot introduces a wrong username and/or password, the router delays the "wrong username or password" response for one or two seconds. If you try to enter it again during the delay, the router immediately returns "Already authorizing, retry later" and the other request gets lost.
I use RADIUS and the RADIUS server replies custom messages based on what the failure is (expired voucher, the voucher is already used, or you just wrote the wrong code), but those messages get lost if the user tries to enter the code again (thinking, due to the delay, that either the hotspot or the phone itself didn't detect the tap/request when in fact it did).
