What is the equivalent of a CAP for the outside?

Sat Apr 29, 2023 4:50 pm

Which models are appropriate to use as an outdoor access point?

Basically what is the equivalent of a CAP but weather proof?

Thank you

Have you looked at the Mikrotik hardware page, check out wireless systems........ assuming you want omni area coverage and not point to point right....
Lots of options...........have a look

wAP series might be a good choice, entry-level cost and waterproof. But its airtightness is not good as Aruba's outdoor access point. You can also buy a plastic box, put the ap inside and seal it.

Thank you. Any suggestion on the box?

When you say put in a plastic box, do you mean as is or remove it from the out of the box case?

I mean put the ap inside of a waterproof plastic box you made (or purchased on amazon).

Yes, I understood that. but "you made" worries me. :)

There are probably high chances I will fry it, by doing something that will overheat it, since there is going to be sun involved :)

Therefore if you have some recommendaiton (from amazon for example)

I wouldn't worry too much about the case of wap.
I had sxt lte hanging outside for years in France.
Never a single drop inside.

Mikrotik is known for their outside equipment.
They know what it takes to keep it working.
