Interface not Pingable, up on L2 but no traffic (solved)

Sun May 14, 2023 6:00 pm

TLDR: THE " QUICK START" GUI DOES NOT REPRESENT THE CONFIG IN THE CLI / CONSOLE EVEN AFTER REBOOT.

Hi,

Ive watched a few videos on mikrotik ROS and I cannot get a cisco switch to ping the WAN interface of the router.

Going to quick setup and putting in all the IP addresses, I can see traffic on the "torch" function and L2 is up.

But the wan interface is not pingable and I cannot ping out to the cisco switch. Is there something I am missing?

I have changed the cisco port to access so there are no vlan problems, rebooted the MIkrotik and Cisco multiple times. Next Ill put a laptop with an address on it to see if it can ping that.

any help appreciated.

Thanks!

SOLVED: I upgraded from v7 to v7.9 Stable, and that didnt fix it.
I opened a console exported the config and noticed very quickly that the interface that I had set in the GUI to SFP1, and refreshed, powercycled over and over was clearly set to SFP2,
Once I added and addressed SFP1 to the CLI config, it immediately started working.

Now on to OSPF.

I can ping the interfaces from internal to both machines.

From inside the Mikrotik I can ping its own interface.

From inside the Cisco Switch i can ping its own interface.

They are both in the same subnet, with the same mask.
