I think this a good move. Even though I more prefer good docs... Discord seem to be the things these days and already had to use for some other OSS.

Although I'm not sure about #suggestions-box — do you really need more feature requests, in more places? ;)

Forum vs Discord like BBS vs IRC... Discord can be too much noisy if there isn't a lot of channels for specific topics, good for realtime problem solving/collaboration but this forum is also pretty responsive when asking right questions.

Concur, for the odd time one wants to discuss something its excellent. Sometimes typing is a pita...

Although I spend more time on skype than discord........ Anytime you want to take the plunge LOL

I think this is a good addition for MikroTik as long as the forum stays. Discord lends itself well to deep technical discussions/debates that are harder to have in a forum and it's a little more fun on the interaction side (gifs, reactions, ec).

But the forum is still my top choice for technical/support threads that need to be indexed for everyone to be able to search over the long term.
