Potential Incompatibility CRS3xx and Siklu 10Gbps Radio

Tue Oct 31, 2023 4:46 pm

We have a lot of Siklu 8010FX links, and I mean a lot. Most of these are connected via 10G-LR directly to a tile cloud core router or the CRS326-24S+2Q+RM switch, with almost no issues after initial implementation. Lately, I've been getting reports of interface flapping between a Siklu and its mikrotik switch. After investigating, every single link with reported problems is of a common distinction - Siklu 8010FX connected via 10G-LR to CRS328-4C-20S-4S+ or CRS326-24G-2S+. After reviewing documentation, I see that both of these switches use the Marvell 98DX3236 switch chip, where the switches we have no issues with are driven by the 98DX8332 or 98DX8216 chip.

I have upgraded the software and routerboard firmware on several of the switches with issues to 7.11.2, but it does not appear to help.

I'm curious if anyone else has seen similar oddities.

One of my 8010 links is fiber with FS.com modules into a CRS317 at one end and copper into a UF-RJ45-10G in a CRS309 at the other.
The second 8010 link uses a DAC I found on Amazon into a CCR2116 at the mountaintop side, and FS.com modules into a CCR2116 at the data center side.

The CRS309 is on 7.7. The 317 and 2116's are on 7.11.2.

(My 328 has a single DAC to the 317, and we're not using the SFP+ ports on the 326's at the mountain top.)

To follow up, we replaced 2 of the CRS328-4C-20S-4S+ switches with our standard CRS326-24S+2Q+ switches. Optics are unchanged. All issues resolved. Just to complicate matters, it appears that the optics that Siklu recommends seem to work fine. We use fs.com and other generics.

We are having the same issues with Siklu eh8010fx connected port dropping, link downs. I replaced radio, optics, fiber, poe, switch, CRS328-24P-4S+, but the issue remains. We tried to run over copper rj45 port with 26 meters of Cat6 shielded, Tik and ubnt copper 10g module but same issue. We changed the switch to a CRS326-24S+2Q+ and moved back to the fiber and it seemed to fix it, but now the issue is coming back Again.
The odd thing is that we have other links on the same switches that have only dropped 1 to 3 times in 6 months.
We even moved it to a new power source.
