mAp, RBmAP2nD dead?

Wed Dec 13, 2023 2:06 am

Hi,

I've just got my mAP (RBmAP2nD) device as extension to my network. I'm quite new to Mikrotik hardware, but it's not my first device.
Unfortunately, when I unpacked the device and connect it nothings happens.

I connected it to my hap ac2, there was no dhcp request, the device powers up all leds (ETH1/ETH2/PoE out/USR/WiFi/AC/CAP) remain lit up aside PWR led.
I use attached power adapter (24V/0.8A), the device comes straight out of the box.

Device doesn't react to reset button.

Is it dead? Maybe it's already some return and someone messed up firmware update?
If yes, is there a way to recover it? Some UART update etc?

I would appreciate all help.

You can try to netinstall ROS again, maybe it's software problem ?

If you are not sure if it already has been used or not, netinstall is the best approach right now.

@gigabyte091, @holvoetn Thank you for your help!

So, it seems I get some faulty unit. Netinstall doesn't work.

I see following output:
woba@fedora:~/Downloads/netinstall-7.12.1$ sudo ./netinstall-cli -r -i enp7s0 -a 192.168.0.1 routeros-7.12.1-mipsbe.npk
Version: 7.12.1(2023-11-17 12:24:36)
Will reset to default config
Using Interface: enp7s0
Wait for Link-UP on 'enp7s0'...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
The ETH1 won't get up at all. Same is for ETH2. Unfortunately, "He's dead Jim!"
The best option is to return it.

Just in case, I tried 4 different ethernet cables, all manufactured not home grown.
