two networks

Tue Dec 26, 2023 12:52 pm

HI, am not an expert and need help for a problem I cannot get ahead on.

I have two networks on the router,
192.168.0.0/24, GW .254
10.150.0.0/16 GW .254
and WAN interface on 192.168.100.1

bridge-168 for 192.168 ethernet ports
bridge-10.150 for 10.150 ethernet ports

route list DST/GW
0.0.0.0 / 192.168.100.1
192.168.100.0/24 / eth1-WAN
10.150.0.0/16 bridge-10.150
192.168.0.0/24 bridge-168

10.150 reaches WAN and 192.168 network
192.168 reaches WAN, 10.150.0.254 (GW) but not any other IP in 10.150.0.0/16 network

somebody can help?
I would like to reach the 10.150 network and back from 192.168 in order to put the WiFis of the 10.50 under a 192.168 CAPsMAN.

(actual IP's are different)
Thanks

Without a config it is guessing.

My guess is that this is a probable cause of your problems:

bridge-168 for 192.168 ethernet ports
bridge-10.150 for 10.150 ethernet ports

Do not use two bridges if you don´t know why you need them.

hmm, I have 5 ports in bridge-168 and two in 10.150, so how could I do without bridging these ports?

What you assume about a bridge is probably wrong.
Read the documentation on what a bridge is and does.

You only need one bridge and add all interfaces to it.
Then configure the interfaces, VLANs, firewall rules and routing.

Since you want to use CAPsMAN, i advise you to use VLANs to ease configuration and provisioning.
It can save a lot of time if you want to expand your network with eg. new SSIDs for different functions.

thank you
actually I use the bridge for the IP address (IP-->address only for the bridges, not for each eth port), so I do not give specific IP addresses to each eth port, but only one for the bridge, and than put the ports in it. If switch like use, all ports under one bridge, in the router eth1 has it's own WAN address, than the two bridges which use the eth1 as gateway.

It is beyond me why you want multiple bridges.
Just one is enough for what you want to do.
Do yourself a favour and read about how MikroTik devices with ROS do routing and switching.
Stick to best practices, you will thank yourself later for doing so.

But hey, whatever you fancy :D
Good luck!
