Greetings... I am trying to update the Factory Firmware of a LHG5 AC and a SXTsq 5ac and I am having problems doing so. I present information about the current configuration of the lhg5 ac: I am using this update file for the process:

protected-routerboot-v6.43.7-enable-6.43.dpk

and my current version of routers is 6.43.7.

When I upload the file protected-routerboot-v6.43.7-enable-6.43.dpk to the Files folder and restart the computer, the following message appears in the LOG:

installed protected-router-6.43
FAILED to enable protected RouterBOOT: code 127
router rebooted


I did this same process successfully on 4 SXT 5AC (MIPSBE platform) and updated them from 6.43.7 to 7.6 (in a phased manner, first 6.43.7, then 6.49.7 and finally 7.6), in At no point in the process did it give me any problems,but these ARM devices have given me problems updating the Backup Booter. I have also tried updating them from version 6.49.7 with the special package:

without success in the case of the LHG5 AC and the SXTsq5ac. Can you tell me if I have skipped any steps? Or something else I should do?

Why are you trying to install some particular versions (none of them are latest and greatest)? Simply upgrade ROS by running the procedure inside ROS (it fetches all the required packages without human intervention). After ROS upgrade, upgrade routerboot as well. With decently modern ROS (6.43.7 should be modern enough), all the protected routerboot features are managed from UI and no additional packages are needed.

The Factory Firmware must be updated to a version higher than the one installed on the RouterBoard. When I try to activate the feature, I get the message:
The "protected routerboot" feature requires a backup-routerboot upgrade.
It is telling me that version 3.41 of my Factory Routerboot needs to be updated. Why do I update to those versions specifically? Because those versions are the ones that the special package to update the Backup Booter requires (I have taken time reading the topics on the forum about it).
I have tried each of them and I have only been able to update the ``normal'' RouterBoot, but the Backup Booter is still outdated (v3.41).
I reiterate that I have only had this problem on these ARM-based Routerboards, those based on MIPSBE updated the Backup Booter to 7.6 without difficulty.

I suggest you to open ticket with support@mijrotik.com ... they will likely ask you to provide supout.rif file (to see actual state of your device) so you may want to provide that file when opening the ticket.

And, please, update this thread with what ever support might come back.

Any updates on this issue. just bricked 3 sxtsq 5ac I have a support ticket in..
