802.3.ad preventing OSPF?

Mon Jan 29, 2024 4:57 pm

Can a Bonded 802.3.ad interface cause issues where two routers cannot become neighbors via OSPF?

I have a setup as below.

Core router -> Core Switch->Elm Tower router

The link between the core router carries vlans for each site that connects to the core switch. The link between the core switch and the Elm router is a bonded 802.3ad interface.

I have other OSPF links that run fine between the core router and other sites connected to the core switch, but they are not using bonded interfaces.

The issue I have is that the Elm router sees the core router as a neighbor but the core router does not see the Elm router as a neighbor so OSPF does not work between them.

Nevermind. I forgot I had a firewall rule on the core router that would only allow ospf from certain IP addresses and I did not have the Elm router in the list.
