Channel Overlap

Thu Feb 15, 2024 5:41 pm

hAP ac^3 7.13.3 / cAP ac 7.13 / CapsMAN country united states indoor installation

Control Channel Width set to 20Mhz for 2.4, however, NetSpot shows a Secondary Frequency at 40Mhz width. Subsequently, I am unable to reduce channel overlap. I have to assume I would get a slightly stronger signal 20Mhz and no overlap. Any ideas?

Can you please show related config ?
What does status tab show for that radio ?

Also, have you tried other scanning tools ? Do they tell you the same story ?

Thank you for the reply.

Wifiman does show a 40Mhz channel width as well. However, the built-in WiFi does set the channel width to 20Mhz.

20-eC
Is indeed seen as 40MHz, just as XX or CE. XXXX as set with 5 GHz will be 80MHz and work as Ceee, eCee, eeCe or eeeC

Surprised one uses 802.11b in the US region. (expected a or g)
g/n default to 20MHz only, with n/ac devices, unless set otherwise
ax may be different and go for 40MHz by default in this 2.4GHz band.
I expected 20MHz/ax as default, as I have in standalone (no CAPsMAN) mode
AFAIK nothing was specified here.

Trying incremental changes to observe singles changes. Disabling Secondary Frequency first and will check tomorrow.

Thank you everyone for your input.

Success... setting extension channel to disable did the trick and I gained several decibels too.
