Configure SwOS as fully Unmanaged for SonicWALL HA

Tue Sep 03, 2024 2:36 am

Hello, is it possible to configure SwOS as fully unmanaged? I have a SonicWALL high availability setup with 2x 2700s but 1 ISP and 1 WAN connection. Sonicwall support is asking for a unmanaged switch for the wan connection and to turn on virtual mac.

I tried a CRS312-4C+8XG-RM, I was hoping to put the 3 SFP+ ports in a VLAN and make it work, but only the primary sonicwall can get to the internet, not the secondary. So if in a VLAN, does anyone know what can I try with a Mikrotik switch to make it work?

if I cannot use VLAN, I also purchased a CRS309-1G-8S+in, I tried to use that as a dumb switch with SwOS (instead of the more expensive one above) but same result, the second sonicwall cannot access the internet. Sonicwall support is saying to fully disable all VLAN and STP, and make sure all ports can talk to each other.

Any advise or suggestions would be appreciated.

VLAN and "fully unmanaged" don't go together in same sentence.

The closest to fully unmanaged switch MT switch can get (both SwOS and ROS) is default switch config with xSTP fully disabled (both globally and per-port).
