IPv6/6rd issue as of 7.16

Sat Nov 23, 2024 12:32 am

Hello all,

I have Century Link/Quantum Fiber as my ISP, I have a 200mbit/200mbit connection.

Things have been working great up until I upgraded my router to 7.16, and issues persisted on 7.16.1. I even tried 7.16rc1 today but same issue.
Long story short, as you know to get IPv6 working on Century Link/Quantum Fiber, this is not natively supported so using a 6rd interface is required.

P.S. thank you to all those who have come up with the automated scripts to make this easy, it has been absolutely stellar.

Back to the issue at hand, as of ROS 7.16, my performance on the 6rd interface has been absolutely terrible. My download would average about 6-7mbit, although my upload would actually be fine and at full speed. From time to time my download would be as little as 3-4mbit, but very, very rare cases would it go above 7-8mbit. This has been true of disabling my firewall rules, mangle rules, queue tree setup, nothing would fix it.

I just downgraded my router to 7.15.3 and my speeds are all back to normal.

Does anyone have any ideas what the issue is with ROS 7.16 and up? Again the latest 7.17rc1 from today still has issues with it too.

Has anyone else had similar issues?
Thanks!

P.S. I have a RB4011 router.

Glad I'm not the only one, I was starting to get worried lol. Hopefully we'll get some answers soon. I have left my router on 7.15.3 and it's been excellent.

Updating here, this is STILL an issue on 7.18. Only fix is to revert back to 7.15.3 and things work amazingly well.

I only just noticed this thread after posting separately --

Are you seeing the same symptoms as I described here? viewtopic.php?t=215207

Hey dwlpx,

I took a look at your other post and tried the torch and packet sniffer, but sadly this had no effect on my poor download performance. I will say at one point I reached 10-12mbit which was the fastest I have seen, however this wasn't recurring while the tool was enabled. Very interesting issues going on.

I have opened a ticket with support and am hoping to hear back soon with this.

I also tried pinging my router's IPv6 IP from another server I have access to which has IPv6 capabilities, and had no issues with responses. I unfortunately couldn't replicate the behavior you got.
