pppoe-server response times ..

Fri Jul 18, 2008 1:58 am

ok .. installed pppoe-server .. working ok .. ( mikrotik will only be used as the pppoe-server .. the dhcp is relayed .. so is the dns and other stuff ) .. the thing is that I can't get more than 5 M/s when testing speed through mikrotik's pppoe .. but when on direct line I get 10M or more .. something's not good .. I'm using mikrotik on a x86 intel at 2.8GHz with 1G of ram .. and 2 x 8169 realtek 1G cards ... what could be the problem ? also .. I noticed that the response times when I start mikrotik is about 1 ms ( 2ms ever 5 - 10 pings ) .. after a download test it increases and remains at that value ( 9ms .. or 15ms .. ) which isn't good .. something's wrong .. but what ?! ..

thanks .. did .. works .. now I see the issue I explained in my edited post .. the response times are weird .. and that's not good .. the whole test was done in a lab in which cables don't get more than 5 meters ..
