Hi, only 7.

Nahhh.. It's a joke. You can have hundreds users but it depends on what are they doing and the type of RB.

It depends on your country. Isn't the same Noise in NYork or in a remote mountain.

I know people who have a little over a hundred stations, but it depends on what speed you want to give your customer.

The correct answer is: only one at a time.

Obviously if two people are connected and both downloading from an unlimited bandwidth site at the same time, they will have lower download speeds than if just one just one person is connected and downloading.

so hundred stations is really really big. :) .

You cannot offer them 512Kbps internet, imagine they all use it at the same time.

So for 1 Mbps up and down you can connect abou 10 users in a perfect situations?

in a real point to multipoint you can't have more than 15mbps. Not even with only 10 clients conected

to have 30 clients online means that you must have at least double connected. I have 30 users connected through 9 AP Client with 4 and 6 mbps each, on a single sector and no complains. The chance that everybody to download is very low. Most of the time 4-8mbps on the sector.

In my experience, anything more that 12 clients is problem. I am talking about local networking, with unlimited speed.

Interesting topic here.

I have 20+ laptops with domain logon over wireless link in a school. I have to admin that things are really slow. Takes forever to students if any more than 10 laptop are booted within an area. I tried to implement queues to allow smoother operation but I'm still not satisfied.

Based on what I heard on this topic, I understand that I'm overcharging my AP and I need to deploy more AP.

Any trick to do that. Should I put more wireless card in my AP? Install more AP on different channels? on the same channel? What are the best practice to allow a large amount of laptop avec a small area?

Well maybe you could try WDS, or more AP wide spread on different channels, but then you must link all AP-s. So maybe WDS is the best sollution for you. . .

I tought that WPS was used to link AP with a wireless link? I currently use cat5 cable with PoE to keep the wireless spectrum as clean as possible for students laptops.

Every APs talks to a radius server for WPA authentication, is that the kind of link between APs you're talking about?

I do feel that I'm missing something. If I ever wish to significantly increase the number of current users in an area - for a convension or something like that - I don't beleive that my current setup would handle the charge.
