problems redirecting to login page

I have just setup a hotspot gateway using the procedure documented in the mikrotik v2.9 manual.

However, when a user connects to the wireless mikrotik, they obtain an IP address from the assigned pool, but when they open the browser, it keeps trying to load their home page until 'Page not found' is displayed. The login page never comes up.

A dynamic firewall rule was generated to reject all packets 'hs-unauth-to', is this correct? since almost all packets are hitting this rule!!

Also, the hotspot is for access to an internal network not internet, so I am using the built-in DNS which is pointing to the wireless interface of the mikrotik.

Any ideas of what is wrong?

Thanks

Probably something to do with dns. Try using the built in setup 'wizard'. Also, try not setting a dns name for the hotspot router.

I think address clients are trying to reach should be 'resolvable' through internet or your local dns server before hotspot login page will be displayed.

Problem Solved.

Dns must be available at all times.

Without a valid DNS server, the hotspot login is completely unavailable.

Thanks

Also, we have found that if radius button is checked in the dhcp server setup area, that the hotspot login page will not load for some reason...
