Failover - NAT with Routed IP

Tue Jun 18, 2013 11:01 am

Hi All

I need to install a failover on a network that uses routed IP, and cant quite work out where to put my masquare/nat rule.

[IPTV SERVER] 176.226.x.3 (Default GW is the CCR)
|
|
[CCR1036] 176.226.x.2 ----------> NEW ISP ---------> 195.109.x2
|
|
[ISP1] 176.226.x.1

So, Cloud Core router has 3 ethernet ports confiugred

Ether1 - Goes to the fibre Connection (176.226.X.1)
Ether2 - Goes to a failover ADSL (195.109.x.2)

Failover works fine on the CCR, routes down whichever connection is working.

Ether6 - Link to IP TV SERVER

I know I need to NAT the traffic into the CCR so that if the Fibre link is down, the traffic is natted from (176.226.x.3) to the ADSL line.

However, adding a basic masquerade rule doesn't work. Any ideas? I cannot reconfigure the IP address on the IPTV Server

From your description it looks like a masquerade rule with out-interface=ether2 should do the job

Nick.
