probe https (certificate and authentification)

Thu Jun 29, 2006 1:39 pm

Hello

Is it a way to probe a https server with authentification and certificate.

In fact, is it a way to get an URL and watch if a word or a sentence is received from the server

Because this server is behind a firewall, I can't "ping" it either get snmp traps (for the moment). The only way to know if the web service is up is to get an url.

Thanks for your answer

no, currently Dude has no SSL probe type, for now you can use TCP probe and
set it to 'Connect Only' to verify that web server is up. Of course if works
only if you don't have proxy in between.

Anyway, I don't know how to send something in the http probe page. for example getting this page http:/server/lr/alerte.htm.

Can I have a example ?

Thanks

Hi!

Does new version of The Dude has an option to connect to server using TLS and make probes over secure channel?

It's needed for https monitoring. Anyway it would be a nice feature if it could monitor URLs out of the box.

Edit: The simplest way would be to add OpenSSL to the type of probes

Adding OpenSSL as probe type should be relatively easy and community should be able to create all sorts of custom probes for https, smtps, imaps, ftps, ldap ... everything should be encrypted these days so a successful connection on an unencryped channel should be an instant fail these days.
