Antenna for the NetMetal ax

Hey everyone,

Today I bought the NetMetal ax AP to get started with RouterOS and explore its features. I ran into something I don’t quite understand yet.

When I opened the bottom cover, I saw a sticker saying: “Connect antennas before powering on.” That makes sense, but there were no external antennas included in the package. As far as I can tell, antennas aren’t meant to be included.

Now here’s my confusion:
The cover for the antenna compartment—is it made of plastic or metal? If it’s metal, wouldn’t that block the signal? And if it’s plastic, what type of antennas should I use? The ones shown in the product listing seem too large to fit under the cover.

What’s the ideal setup or best use case here? Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance!

While you can use straight antennas (NOT using the cover) the idea is to have two short length of cables connecting the antennas (the cables run in the two gaps on the side of the cover).
