My 11 year old son had made some changes in the IP:192.168.88.1 setting. Now I can’t access the IP.
It shows “site unreachable” how can I access and reset it all.
it could be a number of things.but first and easiest is to download winbox and try access the Mikrotik
failing that, use ssh or telnet
I can’t help thinking your son might also be on this forum. that would be funny
once you get into it, make an backup and change the password.
Connecting through Winbox and Telnet failed now what can I do.
Can you use command prompt and do next command ipconfig /all
what is the IP at default gateway?
It shows tenda wifi and IP:192.168.88.0.1
But With ethernet it shows ip:169.254.110.229
On which I tried to connect but it shows connection unreachable.
connect a laptop directly to the router and see if you can see the Mikrotik in winbox’s neighbors section ? if yes, click on the MAC address .
this does not require an correct IP address to be used.
No I cannot see Microtik option in neighbour section.
What kind of MikroTik device do you have, and which of the ports have you connected directly to your PC? It should not be the first one, as that is for the internet cable usually.
Also in the PC, turn off firewall/antivirus and disable WiFi, just to be sure your Winbox.exe tool can find the router.
I have Microtik Wireless device for my BB over Wifi service and the port which is connected to tenda.
I connected that port to Laptop.
Please tell me the exact model and the exact port number.
The model number of device is “SXTsq Lite2”.
And how can I now my port number.
There is only one port on the SXTsq Lite2. That cable is also carrying the power. Make sure the PoE injector is used when connecting the computer.
Was this used to connect a computer to wifi, or was this used to broadcast a wifi signal? Probably the first case as this is license level 3 (not an AP with SSID broadcast)
Sir It is used to broadcast a wifi signal through Tenda device
SXTsq to Tenda connection: is that via the cable or via wifi?
Is the SXTsq powered on?
It is via Cable which is connected to POE connector and yes it has power
Trying to understand your setup …
Tenda - PoE injector - UTP cable - SXTsq
Tenda wifi
SXTsq wifi
As you use 192168.88.1 I assume that IP address is coming from the SXTsq DHCP server when connected via wifi (SSID of the SXTsq)
I also assume that the SXTsq is in router mode (not bridge), as it uses its own IP subnet
That would mean that the ethernet port on the SXTsq is using an IP address in the Tenda subnet range.
That would also mean that without the Tenda connected the SXTsq ethernet port could have no IP address (if it is DHCP client)
I don’t think this is the correct assumption as I don’t see how you would use the SXTsq wifi network.
And the IP address you gave: 192.168.88.0.1 does not help, it’s an impossible IP address.
169.254.X.X is an address that is used if the DHCP client did not get a real address from a DHCP server. You cannot access the SXTsq with that address.
If the SXTsq is connected to the Tenda by cable, is there in the DHCP lease table of the Tenda, an IP address that could be leased to the SXTsq ??
How to you connect to the SXTsq wifi?
Sorry many questions, but so far I’m not able to reconstruct your setup.
Please connect a laptop directly to the LAN port of the POE injector, open winbox, do you see the Mikrotik appear on neighbors section ?
would it simpler just reset the Mikrotik and setup again?
also a complete network topology would help us to understand your setup and then suggest where / what to test.
Setup is like:Wireless Device “SXTsq Lite2” has a port through which a cable goes into the PoE connector and after that power adaptor is connected to PoE and another cable goes into Tenda WAN port, which gives out signal.
And IP:192.168.88.1
What is the IP address of the Tenda WAN port?
Now it looks like
Internet-ISP- SXTsq-Tenda - wifi- PC
