2pcs ax2 died after update

Hi, i have 2 ax2, and they were running on a 7.12.1 firmware.
I have updated them to 7.15.2 with diference 5 minutes, and both doesn’t come alive again. Only blue pwr light is on. No port LEDs, but all ports cables are connected.

Tried netinstall, (used Linux and Windows pcs), but no success, app doesn’t see a routerboard. Tried to connect ac2 for same pc with netinstall mode - everything is fine app see a routerboard, so this is not cable and not pc problem.

Symptoms: Pwr light: ON, Port LEDs is turned on for 1s, after inserting cable, and turns off after. Link for all ports between pc and device - only 10mbit.

Any solution for that? Or maybe specific netinstall manual for ax2 model?

Upgraded my Hap Ax2 to 7.15.2 via packages from 7.15.1 and no issues. How did you do the upgrade? As think if you were going for 7.12.1 you need to go to 7.13 first due to the changes that were made splitting the os and WiFi QCOM packages.

As to how you recover from this you’ll probably need to netinstall back to 7.12.1 and then upgrade through the packages menu.

Upgraded from winbox, as usually from System > Packages. And there is no options to choose other version, always avilable latest version.

@Pudpoh actually you need to go ROS 7.12 first to upgrade beyond 7.12. As OP already was on 7.12.1 all was like intended.

My apologies I stand corrected, I thought the changes took place when upgrading to 7.13. I’ve no idea what has gone wrong then on your 2 devices. Only way I know to recover is with Netinstall. Did you update your Routerboard firmware as you may have to use a version of Netinstall with the version of Routerboard firmware on your device for it to work.

Tried all versions of netinstall, from 7.12.1 to 7.16beta3, no one of them not working, i.e. doesnt see the mikrotik.

Cable is inserted to 1st port, after plug in power lan1 indicator blink 3 times with interval 1 sec. And all. Maybe this is error code, something like wrong flash IC, or something like that.

I have skills and equipment to resolder and reflash memory ic, or replace it, but need to be sure that is hardware problem. So I’m waiting for answer someone from mikrotik tech team. ax2 have 2memory ic inside, its u900 (main memory), and u901 - something like bios, where default settings IDs stored. u901 is ok, i have checked it, but not checked u900.

If somebody from mikrotik engeniers here, help to solve problem please.

Don’t know if this helps you or not, but my ax2 came with firmware version 7.8, so if Routerboard hasn’t been updated that is possibly the version your devices are on.

Think you could really do with someone from Mikrotik chipping in with more knowledge.

Could it be that one of the two boot loader firmware got corrupted?

Triggering the one or the other is “tricky”,the difference is between powering up the device with the reset button pressed vs. pressing the reset button immediately after having applied power, if you tried the first (easier) try the second:

Tried different ways of reset, and no one not working. Netinstall also doesnt boot.
This is 100% software issue, but no ways to solve this problem.

AX2 motherboard have spi+uart pinouts, so must be the way to make device alive, but mikrotik engineers even don’t read this topic.
I think that U900 nand ic need to be reflashed directly, but no info how to do that.

They read the forum only occasionally, you should open a support ticket to get their attention to your issue.

Must be a great coincidence that some Mikrotik engineer reads this topic indeed. It is not part of their jobs to observe community forum I assume. So better write support and include a link to this topic. Maybe they have some advice.
