2sr9 in rb153

I know this has been asked before but can 2 sr9 be run in a rb153 using a 48/40 power supply?
thanks
Kenny

Hey i know this is off topic but is your name Kenny bain???

As far as the question goes.. I am not sure yet. I am slowly esatblishing a network entirely of Mikrotik systems… bye -Jordan

Looking at the specs, it looks like the wattage supplied should be enough to power 3 of them, but I don’t have any and haven’t ever tried.

Thanks guys for the replys. I think my problem was the 153 was running 3.0beta10 and the unit just locked up. I downgraded to 2.9.43 and all seems to be well now.

I am not Kenny Bain but I know him. Very good fellow. Very knowledgeable on wireless.

RB153 should work without problems with 2 SR9

anyone with an rb153 care to test it with 3 high powered cards? According to the comparison at routerboad.com both the 532 and 153 supply 14 watts of power for addon cards. I’ve never used an rb153 before, so I don’t really know if the dimensions are even correct to fit the larger form of the SR9’s in all 3 slots.

I’ve been happy with RB532’s performance wise, and it’s nice that with the daughtercard I can put 4 cards in one unit. But when I’m doing tower work, if I have to get to either of the cards except the 2 on top, I need to disassemble the whole thing, which is a big task 150’ in the air. Another complaint is that there are only 2 of the 4 slots that I can even fit an SR9-sized card into. The on on the very back, and one on the daughterboard.

I realize that the size of the rb153 is larger than the 532, so it won’t fit into the pacwireless enclosures I use, but I’m sure I could find larger enclosures they would fit in.

I’d appreciate any opinions on the 3 card test.

Thanks,
Joe

3x SR9 wont physically fit in RB153.
obstructions are
in J1 - CPU radiator
in J5 - FAN1 connector (it can bent to fit in the card but that on your own risk, warranty void)

so you cannot fit 3 SR9 in there.

the bigger question is does the 153 have enough CPU power to do whatever it is you are planning to do with 3 SR9’s, and how are you planning on co-locating 3 SR9’s in the same airspace to avoid interference?
