I have an issue with my 40Gig CRS326-24S+2Q+ not wanting to establish a link with my Intel XL710-MB2 using a DAC cable
My QSFP+ ports in mikrotiks interfaces are split in four, I do not know if that is normal
the ports all shows the module connected
On the Cards side I am running TrueNAS-SCALE-22.02.0.1, the card is recognized.
I verified the cable working by plugging it directly into both QSFP+ ports on the router, the lamps come on.
I was running an older RouterOS 6.2.x, and upgraded to Routeros 7.2.1 in the hopes of fixing the issue because I have read on other forum and forum posts from 2018 I think that mikrotik was aware of the issue and provided a user with a beta firmware that possibly fixed the issue. That user in the end changed to a different broadcomm network card that worked out of the box.
I have now invested a few hundred Euros into that Intel card, because it is well supported in TrueNAS, and would like to get it to work.
I do not have a different card to test, but googling the many posts stating issues with mikrotik and XL710 I sidelined any hardware issues on my (brand new) card and attest the problem to mikrotik at this time
Since noone seems to care here about the XL710, I have an update for any other 40g home enthusiasts close to despair…
Get rid of the DAC cable… I got myself an old qsfp+ fibre cable from ebay with intel modules, and that one works with my mikrotik router:
Cable is called “Intel 40Gbit/s QSFP+ 10m 924525 CBL2-1001001-3”
Hi, i had same issue with CRS504 and Mellanox MCX354 card. I used mikrotik QSFP28 dac cable.
Link established when i set “auto negotiation” to manual 40gig link on first interface. Other interfaces(2,3,4) run only if you had DAC breakout cable..
Maybe it helps
