What do you mean by “proprietary cards”? RouterOS has a list of supported wireless chipsets/cards, which can be seen at http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.8/guide/driverlist#1.2.3…
We use a Dlink wireless 54g card in ours - its an atheros 5213 chipset. Cant remember the model number - not all of them are supported.

Off the shelf cards, where you can buy anywhere, i need this information because i stay in a country where there is limited resources.

Why not order the cards ONLINE!? Now that would be neat if you could actually order things over the internet that you could not get locally! /sarcasim
Try an Airlink 101 SuperG / 108 card..
Very low price and works GREAT !!!
Craig
i have try order online but most of them dont delivery to my country or the freight charges cost a lot, like triple the price of the cards.

Has anybody tried a senao card? they are using Atheros chips if im not mistaken. what model works with MT?
thanks
Robert S.
You could run a MiniPCI card in a RB41 adapter.
Many types are online and should work with RouterOS.
Craig
hi all,
anyone try anything with realtech chipset ?
regards
If you’re still talking about wireless (not Ethernet) chipset: Forget it. It just isn’t supported… ![]()
Im thinking of buying an SR2 400mW miniPCI for my PC Router. I am just wondering if a PCI RouterBoard 11 support it (note: SR5 - Routerboard 14 /18 not supported) and if my MT PC router will recognize it?
Anybody tried this configuration?
Robert S.
come to think of it, why Mikrotik doesnt carry it? Any known problems/issues we are not aware of?
and also, on Mikrotiks website, it did not mention if the SR5 will work with RB 11?
any explanation would help me decide on what items to buy.
thank you.
Robert S.
what do you mean? RB11/14/18 supports SR5!!
what do you mean? RB11/14/18 supports SR5!!
(IA/MP4) RouterBOARD 14 Four-Slot miniPCI AdapterMikroTik RouterBOARD 14 miniPCI to PCI adapter is an advanced four-slot adapterfor 3.3v miniPCI to PCI standard sockets. The adapter is provided in PCI cardform with four integrated miniPCI slots that allow you to use four miniPCIcards in one standard PCI socket. > Should not be used with SR5 or SR2 400mW miniPCI!
I hope you can explain it a bit.
Thank you!
Robert S.
there have been many discussions about this on the forum already. so you CAN use one SR5 and for example 1-2 CM9 cards. You probably can use two SR5 cards but nothing else with them. You can NOT use 3 or more of these cards.
This SR5 card does not meet any miniPCI standards, so we put this warning so people don’t try to use many cards at once.
