Hello all,
I just wanted to share the config that I finally came up with after YEARS of trial and error.
If anyone has any criticism, constructive or otherwise, please let me know. I am always trying to learn.
My goals for my setup were as follows:
- Separate VLANs for three wireless networks and my wired devices.
- Utilize mDNS support released in 7.16.
- Utilize the ethernet port on my CAP AC as a switch.
- Utilize CAPSMAN to manage the APs as much as possible.
- Have a competent firewall that blocks the things I want blocked.
I also, wanted to go through the steps for setting up the CAP AC. Perhaps I am missing something HUGE but I feel these should be much easier to setup than they are.
- Hold the reset button while applying power to CAP AC and let go when User light starts flashing(about 5 seconds).
- Connect to Mikrotik wifi network and connect to CAP AC with Winbox(this is easiest with a laptop).
- Copy a the debug.rsc to the CAP AC files, reset the configuration with “No Default Configuration” set and select debug.rsc to run after reset.
- The debug config file just opens up the mac-server for winbox.
- Now that the CAP AC is reset, you can connect it to your router and connect to it through the MAC address while connected to your network.
- Configure the CAP AC however you would like.
Again, if I have said anything wrong or unsafe, please let me know.
