802.3at PoE out -> Passive PoE in ?

Hello.

Can 802.3at PoE out router ( RB960PGS ) power two switches that have passive PoE in ( CRS112-8G-4S-IN and RB260GSP ) ?

My concern is that the two switches are Passive PoE, not 802.3af or 802.3at, how does this work?

I’m guessing 802.3at will fallback to passive? Or the instructions are ignored and never requested on the input side ?

Thanks.

If you use 24V PSU, it will be passive PoE out.
If you use 48V PSU, it will be 802.3at PoE out.

Voltages out are different.

Hello, thank you for the response.

Sorry, i missed that, i understand.
So let’s say i get a 48V power supply, do those switches have 802.3af/t?
Doesn’t the receiver for PoE need to implement the protocol also?

If some of your devices (like those CRS units) do not support 48V, then you need to power your RB960PGS with 24V

Got it, thank you both!
