912UAG-2HPnD dont work MiniPCI + Wifi

My configuration

RB: 912UAG-2HPnD
RF StationBox Mikro
Firmware: 3.10
ROS: 6.9
MiniPCIe Sierra Wireless MC8780
data chanel 0
info chanel 2
ROS default configuration

When enable wireless (wlan1-gateway), RB lose connection with MiniPCi module, PPP info is inaccessible and i can’t connect whith terminal command “system serial-terminal usb1 channel=2”. Reboot and usb power reset doesn’t help. MiniPci work only when wlan is disabled.
I have two RB 912UAG-2HPnD and two MiniPCIe Sierra Wireless MC8780. In both cases same result.
It was tested on ROS 5.22, 5.26, 6.5, 6.7, 6.9. with power unit 18V and power injector 16V.
WLAN connected to RF StationBox Mikro whith two MMCX pigtails.
TX power is 17 Dbi.

how many amps you have for the power supply as maybe it is not enough to power the board and also the modem?
Do you have any other brand modem to test out?

Thanks. About power I didn’t think.
Its tested with 18V 1Amp POE injector (L), 18V 1Amp power supply and 12V 1.5Amp power supply.
I have other modems, but USB only (Huawei E3272, E1550). Both work with wifi enabled.
I will test with more powerful the power supply.
How many consumes 912UAG-2HPnD when built-in wireless module enebled ?

I tested with the power unit 19V 3.95 A. Same result : MiniPCIe MC8780 frozen when wlan enabled.

I have the same problem.

Power supply 24V 500 mA.

I’ve triyed with 3G USB HUAWAY and everything Works perfect.

But with RB912UAG + MC8780 + Wlan1 enabled FAILS

??? :open_mouth:

Quote MikroTik support:
“the problem could be related that the AR93xx chipset that is used in the 912
doesn’t work so well with USB 1.0 devices.” :frowning:

and recomended to use Sierra Wireless MC7710

I tested Option Qualcomm 3G CDMA Model M00301 (GTM380). Same result - not work.
Since I have no MC7710 used USB modem Huawei e352.
I was afraid that won’t work at temperatures sub zero (-30 - 40 C), but the third day works :sunglasses: .

Try with routerOs 6.10

i updated to 6.10 … but still the same problem! ppp-out1 losts connection to ac.vodafone.es

I’ve had similar problem with rb- 912. I abandoned these boards as they don’t work as expected.

i do not understand why there is this RB 912UAG-2hPnD with wlan1 and the mini pci express option and they cannot work together??? :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

can anyone explain it???

Does turning on wifi disable data? I have an iPhone 4S and I was wondering if whenever I turn on wifi, does it automatically disable the cellular data? Just wanted to know because it gets too much of a hassle to turn off the data and switch to wifi, and then vice versa.

i do not understand your comment. What it does to do with RB 912 and Sierra Wireless 3G?

Does anyone has used this solution RB912UAG + miniPCIe 3G Sierra Wireless modem? does it worked with the wlan enabled?

Does Mikrotik has a solution? I feel ripped off becouse before buying any hardware i checked out the compatibility list from Mikrotik and there says it is compatible!!!

I need a solution!

Hey nachollv, I understand your frustration.
I also looked at the list of the compatible devices.
I wanted to help you and give you advice to upgrade to the latest routeros.
I thought this would bring the solution.
I think RouterOs version 6.10 is not good.
I have experience with a Vodafone usb stick and that worked very well.

Take a support.riff and email a message to support@mikrotik.com the help you further.

thank you. I’ll do that!!!

I’m very interested on having this platform working with any type of problem.

Finally and thanks to Mikrotik support i’ve solved the problem.

It was with the Sierra Wireless MC8780 USB version. This modem uses version 1.1 with no compatibility with the RB.

I’ve bought two miniPCI express ERICSSON F5521 gw with USB 2.0 version. And it worked. I had to add AT+CFUN=1 command at the init modem. The throughtput: 12 Mb DWL / 3 Mb UL

Thank you

This is great for you my friend.

hello,

I have encountered the same issue using RB/912UAG-2HPnD-OUT and Sierra Wireless MC8780.

I’d like to ask you if miniPCI express ERICSSON F5521 gw with USB 2.0 version is a stable solution and which is the config used? (ROS =? , firmware =? ).

I’m thinking to order other mini-pci-e cards (USB 2.0 support) and I need an advice about properly functionality - I have read about a lot of issues on this forum about 3G modems mini-pci e.

Thanks in advance for your swift response.

Hi,

I’ve encountered the same issue for RB912UAG and my 3G modem - Sierra Wireless MC8780.

I would like to ask you how reliable is the new ERICSSON F5521 gw with USB 2.0 version and in which config did you use it? (ROS=? , firmware=? ).

I’m thinking to order one 3G ericsson F5221 (usb 2.0 support)- modem for test and I need an advice regarding this modem or any other mini pci-e 3G modems that are working properly on RB 912UAG.

Thanks

Hello again, i’m getting 7-9 Mb download and 2-4 Mb upload with the RB411 … but but …no stability

i dont know what to say. At this moment i’m testing three configurations (from three months ago):

1.- 912UAG-2HPnD + Sierrawireless MC8780 and now is working, about 0.7 Mb DL / 2,5 Mb UL. Some times, reboots, randomly.
2.- 411 UAHR + Ericcson F5521 gw , this configuration has been working for weeks but now i’ve problems. I sent the support file to Mikrotik. Its rebooting ramdonly.
3.- 912UAG-2HPnD or 411 UAHR + Sierrawireless MC7305, this configuration never worked. The usb port is not created.

So, i would like to have any of this escenarios Working stablly. Any solution, or help will be appreciated i’m desparated!!!. I’ve two application for this devices but until they are not stable i can not talk with the customers.

Does anybody knows it there is any payment support from Mikrotik to solve this problem?

thanks
