Adding mirror for package source to upgrade

Hi,

I recently got a new CRS312 device and I’ve been able to confirm its Internet connectivity via the ethernet 1 (WAN) port.

My goal is to update the Router and Switch OS software to the latest version. Then I’ll probably intend to operate it in switch mode, but I’ll at least prefer to have everything up to date first.

That said, I’m pretty confused about why there are no package / mirror sources entered by default. This would be for the page: http://192.168.88.1/webfig/#System:Auto_Upgrade.Upgrade_Package_Sources

This is empty but I would expect some official value. I’m guessing that this is the only thing in the way of letting the device update itself. I’d rather have the device update itself through direct Internet connectivity instead of trying to upload an independent image file by dropping it into the web interface because the package update method (if it works) confirms that the device is configured sufficiently well to update itself. Right now I’m not sure what I’m missing.

System->Auto Upgrade is referring to some old autoupgrade method that apparently has been deprecated.
To upgrade you need to look at the System->Packages menu and “check for updates”.
It downloads from a hardwired repository that cannot be configured.
When you do not have internet connectivity on the device you can download the current package (make sure you select v6 unless you want to live on the rough edge) and upload it to the device, then select System->Reboot.
