RouterBOARD configuration,
system routerboard settings set boot-device=
ethernet flash-boot-once-then-nand nand-only
flash-boot nand-if-fail-then-ethernet try-ethernet-once-then-nand
try-ethernet-once-then-nand - it tries Ethernet for the first boot and then changes to NAND.
nand-if-fail-then-ethernet - it uses Ethernet for boot, when boot from NAND fails.
i know but… next reboot the setting goes to the default… it´s normal?
Yes,
it is the reason, boot-setting has name try once.
nand-if-fail-then-ethernet should be saved after any reboot.
the idea is to the rb always boot from nand.
but on every restart check if there is a netinstall service running.
my rb800 had 3 times a “kernel panic” and i had to climb up to my tower to pick the rb near my computer.
the rb800 have ros4.16 and now i have put the latest beta to test if problem was solved.
the idea is to check one time for ehthernet boot then nand, but if i power off (on the POE) had the possibility to netinstall more “easy” .
it is possible?
or/and can you add possibility to change the boot loader configuration from the running ROs ?
ripice
thank you very much for the comments.
We will see what we can do.
gzohop
/system routerboard settings set boot-device=
allows you to change boot-device from RouterBOARD console.
Thanks
I missed that, I assumed that there is no such possibility because on every Netinstall howto’s I have seen just info about RS cable or the button(RB711 etc )
thanks!
