Bad HTTP response during upgrade

I have never analyzed that, only confirmed time after time that when this issue occurs, the router is rebooted and it is re-tried, it always fixes the problem.

(of course when the configuration itself is OK)

Happening to me, re-boot did not help.

It can also be due to other reasons, please read the entire topic.

... not using PPPoE

I have the same issue. Not using PPPoE. I use LTE.

I can ping to upgrade.mikrotik.com successfully but anyways I got Bad HTTP Response.

It's annoying restarting the devices each time that an Update is available.

Regards.

It sure is. But does it fix it for you? If not, there could be another issue.

Restarting the devices, sometimes works, sometimes not. It's random.

Regards.

Same thing here on 7.24.2 (stable, RB750GL, mipsbe). No PPPoE on this one: the WAN is plain DHCP behind another router, MTU 1500.

/system/package/update/check-for-updates
            channel: stable
               mode: https
  check-certificate: yes
         ip-version: auto
  installed-version: 7.24.2
status: ERROR: IPv4: bad HTTP response
                            IPv6: bad HTTP response

Switching to mode=http gave exactly the same error. What I found odd is that a /tool/fetch to https://upgrade.mikrotik.com/routeros/NEWESTa7.stable worked at the same moment (code 200, returned 7.24.5), so the router could reach the update server and the checker still failed.

I ended up updating by hand. Downloaded routeros-7.24.5-mipsbe.npk with /tool/fetch, rebooted, and after that the update check works again. The router had been up for about a month though, so going by what eider and pe1chl said above I can't really tell whether 7.24.5 fixed it or the reboot did.
