Well, I’m finally ready to configure this beast. I’ve got the RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN Routerboard. I was able to get as far as updating the firmware to 6.19, and I’m online. The whole reason I went with these Mikrotek boards is because of their ability to bandwidth limit on a per port basis. That is what I need to do, but I am way over my head. I can click around in the WebFig, and I just figured out how to pull up a terminal for commands.
I’ve read through http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Queue, but the only ‘port’ related information is in relationship to “src-port and dst-port” options, and I don’t know what either of those things mean. I was hoping this Beginner Basics section of the forums would have mountains of material I could read through, but there’s… nothing stickied.
Are there any good in depth manuals (plain English style) for getting up to speed on these router boards? Or specifically, more information about bandwidth shaping on individual ports?
Anyway, it’s great to be here! I’m excited to learn everything there is to know! I’m in this for the long term. ![]()
