Wondering howto config this router to get the most out of it?
I dont wanna use to SSID’s for 2,4 & 5GHz channel but i want the clients to choose the 5GHz band first! Been reading trough the forum and what i can see is that theres no option to set for the clients to prioritize one channel over another, true? However most of my clients are iPhones, iPads, iMacs etc. and people here says Apple devices normally choose the 5GHz band over 2,4, true? If so its not such a big deal for me
Currently i have this config for wlan1 & wlan2:
wlan1 (2,4) Band: 2GHz-B/G/N, Channel Width: 20MHz, Frequency: 2412, Frequency Mode: super channel, Multicast Helper: Full, Tx/Rx Chains: chain0, 1, 2.
wlan2 (5) Band: 5GHz-A/N/AC, Channel Width: 20/40/80MHz Ceee, Frequency: 5260, Frequency Mode: manuel-txpower, Multicast Helper: Full, Tx/Rx Chains: chain0, 1, 2.
Can i tweak the settings in any way to get even more speed?
Check what frequencies at your location are less crowded. Is the 2412 the best choice ?
Lower power till it will be minimal but working good for all your clients. Less AP’s TX power = less garbage on the air = lower Tx power at client side to reach AP = lower battery drain
Do steps 1 and 2 for 5 GHz band.
Configure your clients devices to choose 5 band over 2.4. For Windows it is located at WiFi lan card properties.
Set clients to use wider channel but sometimes narrowing frequencies gives more coverage.
Try, check, reconfigure, try, check, reconfigure, try …
Yepp, using a wifi scanning tool and found those frequencies are less crowded. No Windows clients here
Not possible to prio on Apple devices? Howto to lower the Tx power on ap/client side?
A. PLEASE do not cite full post, especially just under cited post. Most of us could follow thread without such citations. Current default forum’s layout is so long-winded that such citation adds another 2 meters to scroll.
B. Sorry, np Apple clients here
C. Wireless/Interfaces/choose one/Advanced mode button/TX power tab
