As a start I think the answer is I can't but... I have a number of (~100) mikrotik routers that I manage. I need to add a firewall rule on all of them due to an IP address change. On many of them the ONLY IP service that is enabled is Winbox (so no API, SSH etc) Is there any way of automating/sc…

Lots of options there, just a few. Those do cost something, but i would think the Admiral would be great if they are consumer routers. Not that you need a backup of them, but what is really neat is you can put in their access (email) and then they can login using their own user/pass to the web GUI…

"There’s nothing you can’t do with "The Dude"..." OK so where can I make changes to the config - I can't see any options to push changes...

[image] rextended: If you simply add it using "ros_command(...)" For example, you simply need to create a function like this: if ( ros_command(":put [:len [/ip firewall filter find where src-address=66.77.88.99]]") > 0 , ros_command("/ip firewall filter add action=accept chain=input dst…

So is that ros_command used in a 'tool' setting ? comes up with 'cannot find file specified' & have updated to 7.24.4

It's a fair bit of a bodge. The ros_command() "function" is intended to be used to derive monitorable values from devices. But with the tinkering suggested by rex, you can use it to run "any" command. With the caveat that it's going to run on a regular polling cycle (every 30s by default), so you w…

@excession Kudos! I like seeing people with an open mind. Maybe one day you’ll f-kng hate my guts and tell me to go f-k myself, but for now, I’m glad you like the advice.

I find your posts to be very informative rex and always at the highest technical standard. The amount of energy you've put into helping others here is remarkable and well worth the occasional rough edge that advice is sometimes delivered with.

Ugh - that's a horrible kludge way to make changes... The dude could have so much potential ( I think reminds me a bit of the early HP Openview management tool circa 1994). I use Zabbix for SNMP monitoring but keep a dude instance running on a CHR VM.

[image] djmuk: Ugh - that's a horrible kludge way to make changes... What can you do? If you’d started off on the right foot and centralized remote control logically in a single location from the start, there wouldn't have been any need to do anything, right?
