I already have several CAP AX APs deployed indoors running with the capsman controller running on one router, will the mANTBox ax 15S also integrate into the same controller so all I would need to do is power them up in CAP mode and provision them? I want to be sure this works before I order these. I am wondering because I cant seem to find CAP listed on any documentation for these units. I just want to set these up as outdoor APs. If not, whats the next best option for Mikrotik outdoor APs? Thanks
I am in the same position as you (external AP needed for home and client network).
Theoretically it should work.
Current options is wap ac (the arm32 version). You can load wifi-qcom-ac drivers on them so they can join the same capsman setup.
But when handling vlans, that driver doesn’t act the same (yet ?) as real ax devices, so it will require some more config to get things working.
Or wait for wap AX ? It’s already quite a while MT hinted it’s being worked on … sooner or later it has to come.
Thanks for the info. The only issue with waiting is that I need these up and running with at least 1 network in the next 3-4 weeks, so as long as I can throw these in to do that much, we can tinker with them to try to make everything else work on them.
