Can we increase CCR2216 memory from 16GB to 32GB? Anyone tried this or not possible?
There are no plug-and-play parts for RAM on this RouterBOARD.
You must be or find a lab specializing in soldering SMD components and replace the chips by melting the board.
And even if you did, you still have no guarantee that RouterOS will recognize the memory...
Why did Mikrotik settled with 16GB knowing damn well that does not cut it for BGP full routing table? all that power and only 16GB memory, limits usecase massively
thus we need successor to it -> When will we get successor to CCR2216?

I usually don't handle full tables, so out of genuine curiosity: what kind of setup (how many peers or full tables) do you have to exhaust 16GB?
According to Mikrotik's docs you would need a not-really-realistic number of these, no?

That router is not for us!!! the network interfaces tells you all that. What is 16 x 10G RJ45 doing there? and 200G and 50G, not the language most people speak. We speak in 100G/40G/25G/10G fiber
So sorry to say that router will not exist to me and many others but probably to their specific targetted customers they built it for.
Mikrotik is not building stuffs for the general public anymore, they just build things for their specific customers that tell them what they want. Unfortunately

Why shouldn't it be enough?
A complete IPv4 + IPv6 tables only requires 2GB of RAM, at best.
So because it is enough now means we should not ask for more? Memory is not just for holding routing tables only. If 16GB was enough on routers then why other providers have more memory then? Why is Mikrotik putting 64GB memory in there supposedly upcoming router posted here? CCR3232-16XG-4DS-2DQ
IPV6 is growing so will the routes grow also, and can grow exponentially. Just because a house is big enough at 2k sq ft does not mean people should not want bigger house at 5k sq ft. We all have different use cases and plan differently. What makes sense is knowing and understanding that.

for that use case yes am still on fortinet and will continue to be. Fortigates are the best firewalls in my opinion and for the use case i am using it for it works great as router and firewall.
some use cases pure core router is needed which is why am looking at the mikrotiks again and still yet disappointing and might end up with Juniper MX204 as the CCR2216 lacking a few things

So what are u doing with ccr2216 that makes u not have enough ram, that you saturate and fillup all 16 gigabytes of ram. do u have like 4 ISPS ran to your house and need to have all 4 full bgp routing as backup for failover or what are u doing?
Im just curious why the specific usecase of the MX204, specifically the RAM amount that it has, has u so sold on it?
This is the assumptions you guys are having. Not everyone is running homelabs in their parents basement and happy with 4GB memory router running some 2 Mbps websites and apps that no one knows about
Why 32GB?, its about future proofing and running multiple full table upstreams and pushing full tables downstreams to hundreds of eBGP clients that can grow to thousands.
This is not a homelab setup project. This is ISP level stuffs and not going with just enough, going for more than enough.
