- I have a Mikrotik 951 Routerboard. I am trying to connect an external antenna but I am not being able to enable it from within the Winbox. I went into Wireless interfaces and then clicked wlan1, but when I go into the HT tab there is no space to change the type to antenna-b.
None of the 951 RouterBOARDs support plugging in external antennas.
So only the 751s are able to support external antennas?
Those values are only used to calculate legal power and do not influence the interface in any other way.
Now, since you modified the equipment yourself by adding external antenna connectors, you voided the certification, so why bother with other legal stuff? But you could always calculate by hand and dtermine the max. power allowed to stay below max. EIRP.
The old RB751U-2HnD is the only indoor RouterBOARD that supports plugging in external antenna.
There are also Metal, Grove, NetBox and other Mikrotik devices that are specifically designed to be used with external antennas. Check them out here.
I already connected the antenna to one of the MMCX connectors inside the box. I just need to enable it from within the Winbox.
I don’t think those MMCX connectors are there for nothing.
I am attaching a picture of the antenna connected.
