Can't connect to the internet

Hey guys,
I’m brand new to routerboards, and I can’t for the life of me get mine to connect to the internet. The box says, connect ethernet from modem to port 1 and computer to ports 2-5 and you’re good to go. When I do that, I can see in the webconfig that port 1 is assigned an address localy (192.168.88.x). I have DHCP from my ISP, but the router won’t let me do it. The documentation is horrible from Mikrotik. Does anyone else have documentation or can walk me through step-by-step on how to get my routerboard to connect to my ISP and then share the interent through the rest of the ports?

192.168.88.1 should be assigned to ether2-local-master in the default configuration.

If it isn’t then I suggest you reset the configuration, use System → Reset Configuration

Nick.

Does your ISP expect the old MAC address? You may either need to clone it or contact them with the new value.

Goto IP->DHCP-Client->Click on ‘+’ sign->Apply->OK.

Now you should have the internet on your LAN with the network of 192.168.88.x.

I reset the configuration to default. I think I can figure all of this out, but I just need a decent video or some decent documentation. Why doesn’t mikrotik provide decent documentation? It’s so frustrating.

Smugg, you may need to restart your workstation to get the internet connection up and running. Just in case your hardware is RB751U-2HnD please consider lowering the TX power of your wireless adapter or completely disable it for troubleshooting purposes. I got it working eventually but with great results.

HI.
WAHT IS YOUR ROUTER PART NUMBER?
