CAPsMAN, no remote CAP

I’m trying to setup the following:

RB760iGS
|
RB260GSP
|
wAP ac

In between the router, switch and accesspoint I configured trunk ports (with 2 VLAN’s).
Started CAPsMAN on the RB760iGS and resetted the wAP ac into CAPS mode (LED is blue).

For some reason the CAP is not registered to the CAPsMAN. I was expecting it as it can connect on Layer 2.
Is there anything I have to take into account to have this working?

RouterOS version 7.10.1, SwOS version 2.13.

Yes…I know about the CAPsMAN discussions. Yes, more accesspoints will be added.
Config can be included, except for the RB260GSP as it is running SwOS.

I really don’t know, this is just thinking, but I assume that one of the VLANs are trusted/management network and if i remember correctly @anav helped me with my setup.

I had AP with 4 VLANs, and I identfied all 4 VLANs on AP but he said that I have to define only trusted/management VLAN and assign IP address to this AP under IP/Adresses so maybe this could work for you ?

I don’t know if this would work for CAPsMAN…

Interesting topic.

VLANs are layer 2, no ?
How’s your VLAN 1 configured end-to-end ?
Since in caps mode, I assume that’s where the device will search for the controller.

Unless you add a separate VLAN layer to the CAP-device, then it can use that one.
But clean config, it should use untagged traffic with pvid=1.

If I’m totally wrong, then I am open to learn

Edit: did a quick seach, this thread seems to indicate similar solution to the problem. Check your VLANs.

Aaahhh…live can be so easy, the CAP requires a untagged vlan to perform the communication. I could have thougth about that. Thanks both!

Super, glad our reasoning was correct.
