CAPsMAN RouterOS7 help

I’m new with Mikrtoik, so forgive me if I’m not up to speed.

I have an L009 that I setup to use CAPsMAN from the guide here WifiWave2 (7.12 and older):
https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=46759946#WifiWave2(7.12andolder)-CAPsMAN-CAPsimpleconfigurationexample:

I changed only a couple of things to match my location and the available wifi standard 2.4ghz ax. I have a hAP ax lite that I successfully connected setup to be managed by CAPsMAN, but the local wifi on the L009 I set manager to capsman or local but I get the message by the wifi1 interface “no connection to CAPsMAN, managed locally” which to me seems like its not managed by CAPsMAN and the wifi SSID is still the default.

So I am not sure what I’ve done wrong. If there is anything else I can provide, please let me know and if you can let me know how.

Starting wifiwave2 local radios can not be managed through capsman anymore.
You need to configure them locally.
Since you are using 95% the same settings as for capsman setup this should be a small modification.
Since local radio and capsman controller are running on the same Routeros device, everything will work as one entity, also for roaming.

On your L009, set the radio to be managed locally only so there is no confusion and assign the proper configuration / channel / security / … to be used for that radio.

Where to find that information for the sake of documentation?

“capsman-or-local - the interface will get configuration via CAPsMAN or use its own, if /interface/wifiwave2/cap is not enabled.”
https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=46759946#:~:text=capsman-or-local%20-%20the%20interface%20will%20get%20configuration%20via%20CAPsMAN%20or%20use%20its%20own%2C%20if%20/interface/wifiwave2/cap%20is%20not%20enabled.

You’re correct, that little part is not specified explicitly on that page.
But it has been mentioned more then enough by MT staff in the various 7.x release threads.

But still the documentation says otherwise.
