Captive Portal please help

Hi guys, I’m new here, I bought Mikrotik RB951UI-2HnD, Mikrotik RouterOS 6.5 and downloaded Winbox Loader v2.2.16

Here’s my default config

Address list:
Address | Network | Interface
192.168.88.1/24 | 192.168.88.0 | wlan1
192.168.254.7/24 | 192.168.254.0 | ether1-gateway

Interface List
Name | Type
bridge-local | Bridge
ether1-gateway | Ethernet

wlan1 | Wireless (Atheros AR9300)

now, my problem is, how do I setup Captive Portal when a user connect via wifi (Without Encryption) and they will redirected automatically in the Captive Portal when user type anything in the browser.

and limit their download speed and youtube to prevent bandwidth hugging or I need traffic shaping.

Hi!

Go to IP - Hotspot
You can start from button “Hotspot Setup”.

Don’t forget:
IP Address
Default route
DHCP Server/Pool
DNS with Allow remote request

thank you very much. I got it working now. :slight_smile: now I have follow up question, I want to limit user bandwidth for downloading files/torrent and video streaming such as youtube etc. I read some post outside that you will have to include scripts.

can someone please help me, any links and guide me through are very much appreciated.

2:15 - rate limit (total)
Parameter can be like this: “2m/2m” or “100k/1m”…

In “user porfiles” you can use “rate limit” (per user in this profile) like above.


For block torrent and other - you need to see Firewall section.

If you need only shaping - you don’t need hotspot…
