CAT-6 LTE module with bridge-mode/CA and good integration to RoS

Based on real life experience I would like some suggestions of CAT-6 LTE mPCIe modules that are easy manageable ie good integration with RoS and with support for bridge-mode, CA (Inter-Band) and channel locking. RoS v6/v7 both ok.

All suggestions are welcome, but please don't just refer to RouterOS - RouterOS - MikroTik Documentation.

Thanks in advance!

Btw, anyone who is using the RoS v7 LTE MBIM interface?

Use a Search field at that forum.

You ask general question.
Please read those and then ask again.

Thank you! I’ll take a look and get back to you with any questions. I suppose you’ve tried all three yourself?

Quectel EM12-G = your favorite
Quactel EG12 (no frequency lock?)
TELIT LM940 (needs USB connector or pin isolation?)

They all look good but since the installation is in a rural area that is limited to only cat6, they are a bit overkill also regarding the price level. So in this case maybe R11e-LTE6 it’s best to choice?

yes, Cell Monitor, Cell Lock works. CA if Tower give then they works.

Quactel EG12 (no frequency lock?)

This is the same like EM12 about features. Differ Bands and CA combinations.
Cell Lock works the same way as EM12.

TELIT LM940 (needs USB connector or pin isolation?

Dependence of your RB, LtAP have two slots and one usb3.0 works out-of-box, second must have isolated ping or disable usb3.0 feature at lte module.

Hmm,check this then:

Thanks, is that a chart with Inter-band CA-capabilities?

Btw, list with mostly Huawei end user CPE’s. I have an E5186s-22A (don’t know what LTE module it uses) with unbranded original fw that includes all features but have never managed it to use CA.

intER is always about differ bands
intRA is always about the same band, some times we say about 3x differ frequency like Band 66 have A, B, C.
Good photo is this:http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/trying-to-force-carrier-aggregation-between-two-band-3-masts/138637/5
and message about r11e-lte6 from: http://forum.mikrotik.com/t/trying-to-force-carrier-aggregation-between-two-band-3-masts/138637/5

People use Hmanager etc. to select Bands as on/off but still they not have a Cell Lock, if this possible then please share info.
Thats why Cell Monitor is very important.

I’m aware of the difference, but thank you anyhow! That’s why i usually tend to use uppercase like “INTER-” so you can spot the difference. 3gpp sometimes makes things more difficult than necessary especially when it comes to naming things  Regarding CA I think 3gpp has quite a good white paper on that as well: https://www.3gpp.org/technologies/keywords-acronyms/101-carrier-aggregation-explained

Question remains: was your previous post a chart with INTER-band CA-capabilities or just available bands for the different CPE’s?

Regarding Huawei end user CPE’s I prefer open source packages which is easy to modify if necessary that utilize the HILINK api, for example:

“huawei-modem-api-client”
Project page: https://pypi.org/project/huawei-modem-api-client/
Source code: https://github.com/pablo/huawei-modem-python-api-client

“huawei-lte-api”
Project page: https://pypi.org/project/huawei-lte-api
Source code: https://github.com/Salamek/huawei-lte-api

There are also a tool called LTEwatch that can change bands etc. When it comes to MBIM there are some nice open source packages I sometimes use to test and configure a LTE-module “off site” before putting it in the production CPE.

yes

or just available bands for the different CPE’s?

yes, too

Still this is using some API and you show only some end-software what use that API.
I not know any software who have a cell monitor and cell lock feature for that Huawei units and this is like Telit who can show you a neightboards but not do Cell Lock.
