Chipset max temp for PowerboxPro

I did not find this in searches or in the Mikrotik product literature (I believe this should be available for all Routerboards). I am deploying PowerboxPro routers (RB960PGS-PB) which are outdoor hardened router/switches and are rated for ambient air temperature range of “-40C .. +70C tested”, but I am using these in climate controlled apartments that have a structured wiring enclosure which will have higher temps due to the enclosure/non-vented door. What is the max chipset temp I should be monitoring for via the System>Health window? Running in my lab on a table they show 54*C.

Thank you.

What else do you expect to see? It already says that ambient temperature can be up to +70C in your closet.
I suggest monitoring the closet temperature, not the chip temperature, but if you have no other sensors available,+60C is fine.

Hi Normis - thanks for the inputs. In the field I will not have real time ambient air sensors to monitor, thus I must rely on the information the Mikrotik can provide. The previous switch that was used here was having power supply failures due to overheating, and when we serviced the units we measured temps close to 50C. What I am worried about is that sitting here on my test bench with my office ambient temp of about 21C, the chipset is reading 54C. So, if I put it in an environment where the ambient air could be up to 30C warmer, should I be concerned?? Thanks again.

CPU can easily go up to around +100C, but some other parts could fail sooner. Or the plastic enclosure could deform.

Thank you Normis - good to know the chipset capability. I am assuming that Mikrotik has tested/confirmed this product will not fail in an environment where the ambient air reached 70C (as per the product sheet), so we should be confident with ambient temps below 51C…
