Choosing hardware for multipoint setup - am I right?

Hi guys,

I have demand for quite simple scenario - one central location (headquaters), and several remote offices within 1km reach. I am relatively new to Mikrotik, and would REALLY appreciate if someone could comment on hardware I had in mind for this.

Without further ado, here is what I had in mind:

Central location
RB433AH
R52Hn wireless card
24V power supply
RB433U case
Omnidirectional antenna, 12dbi

Remote office(s)
RB411
R52Hn
24V power supply
Rb411 case
Directional antenna, 8-12dbi

Am I missing anything? I`m so open to suggestions

Man, it will be cheaper to use 711 boards with built in cards ready installed. You can use boxes with integrated antenna if needed.

If you need lots of speed, you can use 411ah.

Hey Martin, thanks for your reply! RB711A-5Hn-M really does look interesting (AP licence). Would you suggest going with it even for remote sites, or just base station?

Also, when speaking about antennas, does Mikrotik make its own, or I have to use third-party? Didn`t find them listed on Products page..

Look in made for mikrotik program for the antennas.
I have many in Spain, but you will find in your country, sure.

If you need to connect the remote sites only to base station (1 link to the base station) you can setup it with 711 boards. Not necessary the 711A.

Use 433ah in the base station.

Thanks a lot for your help! Will do as you suggested

If you need help with the config, we are here to help ; D! You know, you turn on the TV, with 195 channels and each one is more crap than the first. Its better to read and reply the forum xD

I could definitely use that once I get my hands on the config..

your config should work fine!

make sure your OMNI is DC Grounded.

RB-711’s are great, though their recieve sensitivity is a little lower than the R52Hn card, but should not matter in a close scenario where you should see high -40’s low -50’s -Db

What about SXT-5HnD for remote offices?

SXT in cheap, but it’s plastic. I don’t install this for people I want to avoid 100% problems. The box has a hole and I don’t like holes in the AP boxes if outdoor.

ants, water, bugs, etc.. : P!
