Connecting hAP ac3 and cAP ax - Setup Help Needed

Hello everyone,

I’ve got a hAP ac3 as my main router and a cAP ax for additional wireless coverage. I’m trying to connect the cAP ax to the hAP ac3 via a wired connection, but I’ve noticed that the cAP ax is also acting as a DHCP server, which is causing conflicts on my network.

I want the hAP ac3 to handle all DHCP duties and the cAP ax to just act as an access point. What’s the best way to disable the DHCP server on the cAP ax and ensure smooth operation?

Any advice or guidance would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I would use CAPsMAN, that will give you the option to manage the network with one device. There are some thing to make it work great:

  • Use latest stable, currently 7.15.3
  • Install wifi-qcom-ac on the hAP ac3 (instead of wireless package)
  • Set the cAP ax into CAPS Mode

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that feature! I also watched these videos; it helped me a lot.
