I know that on any Cisco router or switch, I can do a “sho run” and then copy the configuration that appears on the screen. I can then save what I copy to a text file. Later, if the configuration on that switch or router gets hosed up, I can copy and paste that configuration back directly into the terminal window and the router or switch will automatically configure itself with that configuration.
My question is, is there any way to do something similar to this with the routerboard OS?

Kevin
Ok, thanks for that. Pretty simple. Now, once the “export” command is executed, where is it exporting to? I opened a terminal window in winbox and it all ran by pretty quickly, but I don’t know where it was exported to.
Also, I’m guessing the command to pull it back in to a fresh routerboard is “import”?

You can copy the config by backing up the router.
Copy the file off to a PC.
Copy the file to a new router.
Restore the new router.
Login via console and adjust interfaces Etc.
On simple configs, this takes about 5 Min to do.
On complicated configs this could be very confusing and not advised.
