corrupt compact flash

We have an rb230 that had 2.8.28 running good on it “the license expired back then” when we rebooted it, it did not come back up, I think the 64mb compact flash is corrupt.

I have 2.8.28 but not the netinstall

If the license is expired can i reinstall and how?

If the compact flash is destroyed, re-installing whatever way won’t get you your license back, as the license is bound to the software ID, which is bound to the hardware medium (i.e. CF card) it is installed on…

Best regards,
Christian Meis

A netinstall might be able to read enough of the disk to determine its license. Depends on if the flash is bad, or its just scrambled.

If netinstall were to work. I have never used netinstall before, it looks like netinstall has the router os version included. I dont have netinstall 2.8.28? The license is expired? What do I do?

there is no such thing as license is expired anymore. just install latest version via Netinstall. nothing to lose anyway, your router is already dead

Hi Normis
I did the netinstall and it gave me the sofeware id and 24 hours to install the license. If i emailed you the software id, can you email the license?

i don’t see your email in support mail queue. maybe it’s already answered?
