Would like to request the 802.3ad bond type be added for the switch. Currently with another mikrotik device balance rr works fine but when using with a device that uses the 802.3ad LACP type the switch cant seem to pair up and ends up with loops despite the device itself using rstp.
for now you can use only static bonding
on mtik devices use xor bonding
Balance rr works well too with the switches but 802.3ad doesnt. 802.3ad is considered the standard in bonding.
I see that running RouterOS 6.36.3 on a CRS125 it does support 802.3ad as a bonding mode.
Did I miss understand this question?
Seems like i forgot to update my switch. I’ll update and see if it works.
Bonding is handled in software by the CPU
Everyone is after 802.3ad in hardware on the switch chip, and with LACP
I updated to latest firmware and can confirm that bonding on switch chip for 802.3ad still isnt there in routerOS. I am trying to connect 2 ports to AC88U and on asus website says to select 802.3ad on the other device. When i attach both cables i get a few timeouts than everything works for a few minutes till the switch chip gets overwhelmed (seems like a few broadcast packets with own address overwhelms it). I thought the CRS was supposed to be wirespeed which meant the switch chip being fast enough. In other words if in an environment where you’re discouraged from using NAT (like student ISPs) than the CRS is likely to always keep freezing.
My previous switch which was a netgear profsafe handled the swarm of broadcasts without going down.
And I am need LACP support in CRS-210-8G-2S for my DS1515+
Just need it!
Why? Bcoz my CCR1016 - can it!
