My ISP has provided me with an 8 port L2 ethernet switch. The switch has 8 standard gigabit ethernet ports and a single SFP port with an SFP module connected to the incoming fibre connection. I then connect my router and another ethernet to the switches’ ethernet ports. My router and the other device are automatically assigned static IP addresses based on their MAC addresses via DHCP. I want to simplify things, remove the ISP’s switch from the setup, and instead insert the SFP module directly into my RB5009’s SFP cage.
I was hoping to create a VLAN to replace the ISP switch and then assign it to the SFP port. What I can’t figure out is how to create an interface on the VLAN where I can specify the MAC address of my current router so that DHCP client retrieves the correct static IP from the ISP’s DHCP server. Any tips on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.
